Wine Spectator magazine’s Restaurant Awards recognize the best wine lists from all over the world, and both John Howie Steak and Seastar Restaurant And Raw Bar prove their excellence, year after year, by being among the Best Of Awards Of Excellence winners from the Eastside. Few restaurants in the Eastside neighborhood win this recognition consistently, as Seastar has done from 2006, and John Howie Steak from it’s opening date in 2010, and it’s a great honor to be recognized for our commitment to the wine programs we’re so passionate about.

The Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence was presented to only 1,244 restaurants around the world in 2019. They only recognize the rarest wine lists, with representation of top wineries and vintners, significant vertical depth of top wines, mature vintages and large-format bottles that harmonize seamlessly with the food menu. Restaurants were appraised for wine directors who curate their programs, and the strengths of their lists, in both wine selections and pricing.

Our programs showcase over one and one-quarter million dollars worth of wine between the two restaurants, presented by an awarded and knowledgeable staff who help guests make sublime choices that resonate with the cuisines of our restaurants and create special memories.
