3 WAYS TO MAKE TURMERIC LATTE – THE HEALTHY AND HUGELY TRENDY COFFEE ALTERNATIVE

3 ways to make turmeric latte golden milk

After coconut oil, ghee and homemade yoghurt, the next super ingredient we’re borrowing from the South Asian pantry is turmeric. You may have heard of turmeric – or haldi as the Indians call it – as the cure-all spice that fixes everything from a pimple to common cold. Bizarrely, most of these claims are not mere hype. Turmeric has been used therapeutically for centuries in India, and if you’ve ever eaten an Indian curry, you most certainly have ingested some as well.

The turmeric root – bright, saffron orange in color – has a somewhat bitter, cloying after- taste if eaten fresh. When juiced in a cold press and mixed with all sorts of milk, however, they make a fabulously bracing drink that’s loaded with good sense, good health and great flavor. Known as “Golden Milk” or “Golden Mylk” (the `y’ denotes non-cow milk) at posh, hipster coffee shops and cafes, you may also find them being sold as “Turmeric Latte”.

2016 has certainly been a year for the gentrification of haldi doodh (turmeric milk) that is drunk daily in rural Indian villages. In a report on food trends in USA in 2016, Google has already singled out Turmeric Latte as a top food search, and its cult following is only going to grow in 2017 as the miracle spice drink percolates down to our neighborhood coffee shops and health stores.

The good news about Golden Milk — or Turmeric Latte or whatever you want to call it – is that it is quite easy to make at home. To help you along in your discovery of the tremendous restorative powers of turmeric, we’re sharing some of our favorite Turmeric Latte recipes you can blend or boil up on your own and see what you think…
